Akab architecture employed as central security system of the Italian Cyber Defence installed in the Italian C4 Defence Command will be used as central Situational Awareness system by the the Italian C4 Defence Command within the International Cyber Defence Exercise 2012 (CDX12) that will take place in Europe from 26 to 29 of March 2012. “Locked Shields 2012” (CDX12) is an exercise organized and directed by the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCoE) in Tallin (Estonia). The exercise is the main test for proof of concept (Limited Objective Exercise – LOE) of Objective 3.4 of MNE7. It is a typical exercise of opposing teams in which compete ten national “Blue Team” and a “Red Team” coordinated by the CCDCoE, where each counter-action to keep secure and efficient the proper network results in earning points for the “Blue Team”. Italian C4 Defence Command is responsible tor the Italian Blue Team and provides support to “Concept Development & Experimentation Centre” of the Finnish Defence Forces' C4 Agency in Riihimaki (FIN), where is deployed a Situation Awareness (SA) component operated by Finland. Apart the Italian C4 Defence Command, the Italian Blue Team will be integrated with units/elements of the Italian Armed Forces CERT. Another time more Akab is called to represent the excellence of the Italian Cyber Defence Systems. Founded in February 2002 on the idea of developing a business intelligence system for network security, Araknos today, after ten years, has its Akab architecture established as top security system in the Italian Defense and Public Administration. We are obviously very proud of this important result achieved mainly by our efforts and the appreciation of our major customers, and moreover in comparison to world-class competitors. In position of national leader in the Italian market in the next ten years we aim at the realization of Akab 2 version with completely new GUI and redesigned main functionality. A heartfelt thanks to all our past and present Customers and Partners! The General Direction of ICT and Advanced Technologies (TELEDIFE), that belongs to Italian Ministry of Defense, issued an open European bid that sees Akab2 as the central system for monitoring and control of the Italian Army CERT: a further recognition for our unique architecture on the European scene. In June 2010 Araknos has been invited to bid for an MSSP (Managed Security Services Provider) project with Méditel, the first private Moroccan telephone operator. Méditel goal is to provide value added IT security services for its network of customers. Araknos made a successful bid winning over all other French and Moroccan competitors both Lot1 (Perimeter Protection) and Lot2 (SIEM), where the Araknos product Akab showed significant advantage over the concurrent USA products. Between 16th-18th November 2010, C4 Defence Command in Rome (Italy) conducted “CyberShot 2010” the national Cyber Defence exercise organized by the Italian Minister of Defence and directly linked to the NATO Cyber Coalition 2010 exercise. The exercise aimed to coordinate, test and build communication procedures between the Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERT) in different national civil and military institutions (See the Defence General Staff Press Release). Araknos participation as support to C4 Defence Command in the event realization and organization showed not only the top grade specialization of its personnel who worked for more than two months along the C4 Defence Command, but also the value of its product AKAB, a SIEM (Security Information Event Management) product fully designed by ARAKNOS which has been used as a platform for attack detection and analysis, and as instrument for monitoring, tracing and recording of the “player” activity. Read the event press release.          Araknos Morocco will showcase at MED-IT from October 12-14, 2010 in Casablanca (Morocco).   Araknos got some signficant results during MED-IT exhbition on last November. The large Maghreb market offers big opportunities for hi-tech solutions as our Akab product is and so Araknos decided to found a new independent company in Casablanca, Morocco. Araknos Morocco will, initially, distribute and sell Araknos products in North Africa and, subsequently, it'll produce software. In recognition of Araknos innovation services the Rome Chamber of Commerce will present Araknos within its exhibition stand at ForumPA (http://portal.forumpa.it), in Rome May 17 - 20, 2010. Signal Online magazine, the Official Magazine of AFCEA International, published an article about the AFCEA meeting held by Araknos on 18th march 2010. Araknos holds a meeting under AFCEA (Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association), Italy (www.afcearoma.it) on 18th of March 2010 in the C4 Defense Command (Comando C4 della Difesa) Headquarters, Via Stresa 31, Rome (Italy). The meeting aims to present news and information on the Akab product and the related Case Study at the C4 Defense Command that is as well headquarters of the Defense (Difesa) CERT. AkUA user access data can be used directly in correlation of security events, processed within Akab architecture or as reference source to an IAM system.
